Cloth diapers were used before we even had disposable diapers as an option. As disposable diapers became more affordable for families, they became the standard diapers used by babies. Although the majority of parents switched over from cloth diapers to disposable diapers, some moms and daddies continued to wrap their baby’s bottoms in cloth diapers. Now as the environmental issues have become at the top of everyone’s minds more people are switching over to cloth diapers.
Cloth diapers, among everything else, have seen some advancements and overhauls over the years. There are the standard cloth diapers that are snapped together with a safety pin, but there are some that are designed to make it a little easier for moms and dads. Many of the cloth diapers are not in the standard square sheets. They are now shaped like little underwear with fasteners on the side that can be pulled to make the diaper snug and tight. These diapers are also padded to help prevent leakage. This additional padding really is an advancement that parents of cloth diaper wearing babies can really applaud.
The styles and fasteners for the cloth diapers do vary. For the standard cloth diapers, you can purchase optional fasteners that do not include the use of a safety pin. You can also get cloth diaper covers that are cute and help prevent leakage. There are definitely many options when it comes to the use of cloth diapers; many more options than our moms and grandmas had, but would have kindly welcomed.
